Year of Uzbekistan opened in Kazakhstan

The opening ceremony of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan was held in Astana. Nursultan Nazarbayev awarded Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Dostyk Order of the 1st degree for his contribution to strengthening the friendship relations between the two countries.

The official opening ceremony of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan was held on Thursday at the Astana-Opera Theater in the Kazakh capital, the presidential press service reported. The event was attended by the presidents of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as well as the chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Akja Nurberdiyeva.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev and all the people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of the opening of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan. For a huge contribution to strengthening the relations of friendship and good neighborliness between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev awarded Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Dostyk Order of the 1st degree.

The President of Uzbekistan noted that thanks to the political will and joint efforts of the parties, great results have been achieved recently in strengthening the brotherhood, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership of the two countries.

The program of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan provides for a multitude of cultural and educational activities. Days of Uzbek literature will be held in Almaty. The Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater will visit with a tour of Shymkent. In Astana there will be an exhibition of a national costume of Uzbek women and folk-applied art, as well as a book exhibition.

Expeditions of folklore groups are planned in Turkestan. The staff of the Republican Theater of Young Spectator will visit with the creative trip of Almaty. In Taraz, Shymkent, Kyzylorda and Turkestan, it is planned to hold Days of Uzbek cinema and concert programs, as well as a festival of pilaf.

At the opening ceremony of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan, music, songs and dances of the peoples of the two countries were heard.
